Dedicated to Forging Nonpartisan Answers to United States Security Challenges and Supporting the Adoption of Those Solutions

With Secretary Gates’s active leadership, the GGPC will provide a platform for developing nonpartisan solutions to the urgent domestic and international security challenges we face. The purpose of the center is not the publication of books, journal articles, or conference reports that gather dust on decision-makers’ desks but rather concrete, practical recommendations for Congressional and Executive Branch officials of both parties. Under GGPC auspices, the “Gates Forum” — chaired by Secretary Gates — will convene experts, legislators, and other senior officials who, informed by cutting-edge research, will debate and develop recommendations designed to garner bipartisan support. What makes the GGPC different is that it will assist those who design the solutions — Gates Forum Conferees — to build the consensus required to implement recommended changes.

A Mission to Make a Difference

Gates joined CNN’s “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” show to discuss the latest foreign policy trends, threats to the U.S. and the Center’s mission to work in a nonpartisan way to create actionable change to further strengthen the U.S. Government organizationally and in other ways.

Built to accelerate nonpartisan policy solutions with bipartisan support

“Our country is paralyzed by partisanship even as China, Russia, and others exploit our divisions and challenge us globally at every turn. America's situation grows steadily more dire and the need for bipartisan action more urgent. The Gates Global Policy Center and its Forums will offer a unique opportunity to renew bipartisanship, providing policymakers and legislators with concrete, practical proposals to tackle our nation's most pressing international challenges.”
